To request a pallet delivery, you’ll first need to measure your freight

Once you’ve selected your service options, simply confirm the consignment via our online portal. You’ll get collection details for your convenience. Don’t forget to prepare your pallets for collection. Make sure your goods are secured and wrapped. We can help you with this for an additional £15 fee.

Steps for a Successful Pallet Delivery

To request a pallet delivery, you’ll first need to measure your freight. Since our haulage is palletised, we can work off of standard sizes. These are a full pallet at 1.2m x 1.2m x 2.44m high with a maximum weight of 1,250kg, a half pallet is 1.2m x 1.2m x 2m high with a maximum weight of 500kg and lastly, a quarter pallet is 1.2m x 1.2m x 1m high with a maximum weight of 250kg. If you have tall, light freight, you could save a considerable amount with us as our half sizes are taller than most other carriers.

For the next step, simply choose your service options. We handle economy bookings at no additional charge and all of our vehicles are equipped with tail-lifts. However, if you need a timed delivery, weekend or next day delivery, we can accommodate for an extra charge. From the moment you make your booking, through to recipient signature, every step is tracked on our ePOD for your peace of mind.

Once you confirm your consignment start and end postcodes via our online portal, we’ll get to work on your behalf. We’ll send you detailed collection information and attend on the day to make your collection. It’s very important that all your goods are secured and wrapped on pallets prior to our arrival. If you need help and supplies for this, we can accommodate for a small additional £15 fee.

How many trucks will I need?

The number of vehicles you need for your pallet delivery is determined by how many pallets each one can carry. We’re proud to offer 7.5-tonne rigid lorries (with tail-lift), 18-tonne rigid lorries (with tail-lift), 26-tonne rigid lorries (with tail-lift), 44-tonne rigid lorries (with tail-lift), single and double-deck trailers in our fleet.

You may also be able to double stack or hire exclusively for your consignment, depending on your requirements. Please refer to this chart for carriage amounts for each type of vehicle:

We maintain our fleet to a high standard, so delays due to breakdown are uncommon. Plus, you can see the movement of the vehicle at each stage via the ePOD system for your peace of mind. And lastly, the recipient’s receipt is confirmed via signed-for delivery as standard for all consignments.

By monitoring the 4S Distribution ePOD system, you can track the progress of your pallet. At arrival, we suggest that you have extra help and perhaps equipment like a forklift or hand truck. This is especially helpful in case of rain or if the goods are on the heavy side, so you can unload faster. We’ll deliver all consignments to the closest accessible, flat and hard surface. This means we’re unable to unload goods indoors, beyond gated entrances or on gravel surfaces.

Once we’ve unloaded the goods at the nearest flat surface, you’ll be asked to sign for the consignment. At that point, you assume responsibility for the goods. So; as we’ve said before, it’s a great idea to bring one or more people to help you bring the pallets indoors.
