Our comprehensive range of pallet sizes and service options make it just as easy to ship freight across the UK or across the globe.

Ordering a Pallet Collection

We’ve been processing consignments across the UK and internationally for decades, so our process is simple and easy. We can collect from any address in the UK and you’ll be given a collection date upfront with no hidden fees.

To order a pallet collection, you’ll need to have it measured first. We use standard pallet sizes for our haulage:

  • full pallet: 1.2m x 1.2m x 2.44m high, maximum weight of 1,250kg
  • half pallet: 1.2m x 1.2m x 2m high, maximum weight of 500kg
  • quarter pallet: 1.2m x 1.2m x 1m high, maximum weight of 250kg

We can also accommodate bulky or oversized freight, but you’ll need to contact us for a bespoke quote in that instance. Some good news is that you could save a considerable amount when you ship tall, light freight with us as our half pallet is taller than most.

All economy consignments are collected and delivered at no additional charge and all our fleet vehicles are equipped with tail-lifts, but if you need next day, weekend or a timed delivery that would be extra. You can confirm all this on our online portal where you’ll be issued detailed pallet collection information.

Fleet Load Capacity

We offer a lot of flexibility with 7.5-tonne rigid lorries (with tail-lift), 18-tonne rigid lorries (with tail-lift), 26-tonne rigid lorries (with tail-lift), 44-tonne rigid lorries (with tail-lift), single and double-deck trailers in our fleet. But the amount of freight each one can carry is restricted by their size. If your consignment is large, you may want to consider exclusive hire or double stacking (where possible).

As a general rule, our vehicles can handle the following pallet load amounts:

During your consignment, the vehicle movement is monitored via the ePOD system for your peace of mind. Since our fleet is maintained internally by a team of expert mechanics, breakdowns and mechanical delays are rare. You’ll have full visibility of the journey through to signed-for delivery.

In order to prepare your goods for collection by 4S Distribution, you need to first palletise everything. We can accommodate any pallet material provided the dimensions match what’s on the consignment slip. Wood pallets are the most common material, however. Make sure everything is wrapped tight and secured prior to our arrival for the smoothest collection experience. If you need help with this or materials, we can support you for a small £15 fee.

Once we’ve collected all your goods, you can track their journey via the ePOD system. When we arrive at the final destination, we’ll deliver the pallets to the closest flat, hard surface we can access and have them signed-for. So, that means we won’t leave your goods on gravel, behind gates or indoors. At delivery, we recommend the recipient have external help to unload goods. A hand truck or forklift may also be helpful in case of bad weather or very heavy goods.
