Small consignments of palletised freight are catered for by our fleet of curtain sided lorries, all fully equipped with tail-lifts.
However the following fleet of over 30 vehicles compliments these vehicles in order to cater for your general haulage requirements:
- Transit Vans
- 7.5 tonne rigid lorries (with tail-lift)
- 18 tonne rigid lorries (with tail-lift)
- 26 tonne rigid lorries (with tail-lift)
- Single deck and double deck trailers
A regular maintenance programme ensures these vehicles operate to the highest standards of safety and are equipped to face the rigours of direct haulage.
Operationally the fleet is managed by a team of highly skilled professionals, who are also on hand to provide extremely competitive quotes.
State of the art IT systems mean each vehicle’s day to day movements are visible providing with you with additional assurance that your goods are in safe hands.
As a rule of thumb the following illustration shows how many pallets of standard footprint (1.2m x 1.2m) can fit on the bed of a LGV:
|vehicle capacity (tonnes)||no. of pallets|
|trailer (single deck)||26|
|trailer (double deck)||45|
Where the type of product (and dimensions) allow these capacities may be increased by ‘double stacking’.
A further option may be to simply put your freight on a dedicated vehicle for direct delivery to your customer.
Virtually all freight carried within the UK is moved under the terms and conditions of ‘The Road Haulage Association Conditions of Carriage’. This is a standard form of conditions which set out, in formal terms, the haulage contract including insurance liability.
Remember; regardless of how much your freight is worth, the maximum level of standard cover is £1.30 per kg of lost/damaged freight or £1,300 per tonne. This is calculated against the weight of damaged or unsalvageable freight and is based upon cost value and not sales value. The full Road Haulage Association Conditions of Carriage are available upon request. Customers are advised to seek professional independent guidance in relation to insurance cover.
Small consignments of palletised freight, typically between 1-5 pallets are best delivered through the Palletforce network of which we are a member. (A next day service is available for the vast majority of the UK if required). For bigger consignments we will calculate the best distribution option for you taking into account delivery date and location.
An alternative to the pallet network is to take advantage of our groupage operation. Your pallets will be collected, loaded onto one of our vehicles with other goods destined for the same area. Your goods will then be delivered directly with one of our vehicles.
Because we have storage facilities you can store goods with us thus saving time and money; prior to onward shipment to their final destination.
If you think your goods fall within the category of dangerous goods please contact us for advice. Initially we will ask you for the health and safety data sheets and the PAC code which will help us categorise your goods.
